Knife versus gun in road rage

In a case involving the drivers of a Jeep Wrangler and a Jeep Cherokee, a rode rage incident occurred on I-5 during an otherwise quiet Sunday afternoon. It is not known what exactly happened, but both drivers left the freeway, got out of their cars and squared off. Driver one, a man in his late 50's pulled out a knife and flashed it at his opponent. Driver two, a man in his 30's took out a silver handgun. Both drivers decided it was not worth fighting and drove away at a high rate of speed.

Teens caught with spray paint and green stuff

A Metro bus driver on Phinney Ridge called 911 when a group of juveniles began smoking marijuana. When the police car arrived, the teens ran off the bus. A radio call went out to other units and one of the young suspects was caught. He had a backpack full of spray paint. He claimed he was at a friend's house, painting his room. Meanwhile other police officers found the two other suspects. One had thrown a bag of marijuana into a yard. The teens were taken to the police station where their parents were called.

Disorderly man wanted by the law

When a mentally ill or possibly drunk man began yelling at people from the 14th Street Boat Ramp, police were called. The officer recognized the suspect from previous incidents and he had two warrant for his arrest. One was a Department of Corrections no bail felony warrant for escape, and another was a Seattle Municipal Court $15,000 misdemeanor warrant for criminal trespass.

Thieves steal luggage from home

A man and woman were seen in the Phinney area filling a car with luggage from a house, where the owners were known to be on vacation. The neighbor who called police knew the suspects did not live there and thought it was odd they were kicking the luggage in order to make it fit in their vehicle. "Then the suspects started to bounce up and down on the trunk to close it. The (witness) thought this behavior was odd because he wouldn't treat his belongings so harshly," the report said. The officer took down a description of the suspects for his case report.

Intoxicated woman gives cars body work

Driving while intoxicated, a 48 year old man was seen driving with a flat tire and swerving all over a Ballard street on a Monday morning. A witness told 911 a piece of the car's bumper had fallen off when the driver kept banging into the curb. A short time later another witness reported a red Subaru with "mangled wheels," parked in a driveway. The driver was found slumped over the wheel. She was very groggy with slurred speech when interviewed by a police officer. She had damaged numerous cars during her drunken rampage and was turned over to the Washington State Patrol.

Alert parent catches son in drinking camp out

An alert parent called 911 after his underage son and some friends were given alcohol by a 37-year-old man. The son told his parent he was staying with a friend. The father became suspicious and called him on his cell phone. The son said they were camping out at Carkeek Park, which is closed after 10 p.m. The father ordered him to come home and he did. The son then admitted the adult male had purchased alcohol for the camp out. In the morning, the father went to the campsite and found four teens with beer and wine bottles. The teens then took off running.

Unwanted passenger told to leave

One of Fremont's popular attractions made the police reports last week. Police were sent to the area around the Fremont Troll on a disturbance call when a man and woman were seen fighting inside a white car. The man was outside the car and the woman inside when the police showed up. A group of witnesses at the troll said the man appeared to be trying to get the woman out of his car, but she refused. The male suspect told officers he had picked up the woman on Aurora Avenue. She began acting crazy and he told her to get out of his car. Officers noticed the woman might have been under the influence of narcotics because she was speaking rapidly and slurring her words. Both were released at the scene after they cleared a computer check.
