Beavers wrap up

baseball season

In baseball, a once promising season that began on a new home field has ended for the Ballard Beavers.

They finished the year in eighth place in KingCo with a 9-11 league and overall record.

The early season had great promise with a big 14-11 win over Eastlake, 6-0 win over Garfield and an 11-0 trouncing of Rainier Valley rival Franklin.

The Beavers had a similar situation at season's end with Ballard's softball team. All four city baseball teams were last in the KingCo league. Ballard was the best of the bunch for the city schools with Garfield, Roosevelt and Franklin taking up the rear of the standings.

The next wins came on April 8 at Roosevelt 2-1 and Woodinville 7-0 on April 11.
