Club scholarships

Seniors win scholarships

Ballard High School seniors Kevin Vitz-Wong, Amar Shah and Deisi Fernandez received scholarships from the Ballard Lions Club based on their community service and school work.

Vitz-Wong is an outreach volunteer and school liaison for Teen Link and is a founding member and president of the Student Lives Always Matter Club. He plans to attend Lewis and Clark College. His goals include traveling, studying abroad, and publishing his writing.

As a volunteer at Swedish Hospital the last three years and as a volunteer technical service coordinator at Interconnection, Shah plans to attend Washington State University with a focus on computers and business.

Fernandez does volunteer work with Union Latina, Maritime and Link Crew. His goal is to become a pastry chef. He would like to join the Peace Corps and own his own pastry shop someday.
